P188 - Hypertrophic L3 and L4 Pedicle Anomaly: Pseudoarticulation

M. Can Ezgu, C. Kural and Y. Izci

Gulhane Military Medical Academy.

Objectives: Lumbar vertebrae anomalies are usually congenital, and it contains defects and lack of bones. It is frequently seen at the posterior component of vertebrae and rarely at transvers process. Patients complaints and radiological findings depends to the localization of anomaly. We would like to present our patient with an anomaly which is a hypertrophy at L3 and L4 left transvers process and pseudoarticulation.

Case report: 22 years old male patient appealed to our institution with a low back pain, developed after lumbar trauma. He was neurologically intact but his lumbar movements restricted because of pain. We performed a CT scan, and it showed hypertrophy at L3 and L4 vertebrae left transvers process, cause an image, like pseudoarticulation. Surgery wasn’t the best option because of his early age, no neurological deficit, and the root wasn’t compressed radiologically. In follow-up examination, his back pain was relieved due to the conservative treatment.

Discussion: Spinal anomalies are usually congenital, and it can be at anywhere of the vertebrae. It can be diagnosed by clinically and radiologically. Conservative treatment is the best option if the patient is neurologically intact and at early age.

Key words: Pseudoarticulation. Spine. Pedicle Anomaly.
