Resumen

Los hematomas epidurales espinales, son entidades raras aunque bien conocidas. Su presentación clínica es uniforme, con dolor súbito seguido de trastornos sensitivos y motores. El tratamiento de elección en estos hematomas es la evacuación quirúrgica precoz. Se presentan los casos de tres pacientes que desarrollaron hematomas epidurales espinales espontáneos. Dos de estos casos fueron operados de urgencia, para eliminar la compresión medular existente. En el tercer paciente, el hematoma se resolvió espontáneamente sin cirugía.

Summary

Spontaneous spinal epidural hematoma is a wellrecognized but rare entitys. Its clinical presentation is uniform with sudden pain followed by sensory and motor dysfunction. The standard treatment for these hematomas has been prompt surgical evacuation. The cases of three patients harboring spontaneous spinal epidural hematomas are presented. Two of them were operated on an emergency basis in order to relieve the spinal cord compression. In the third patient the hematoma resolved spontaneously without surgery.
