Abstract

From a neurosurgical point of view three requirements have to be fulfilled when performing spine fixation: reversion of neurological symptons, reduction of spine deformation and stabilization.

In this study 100 cases of traumatic and degenerative symptomatic disease of the lumbar spine, which required stabilization of the lumbar spine, were evaluated.

For performing lumbar arthrodesis compatible resonance sytems with a plate or a rod have been used.

The results in our series and the selection criteria used for surgery, are described.
