Presentamos los resultados de un estudio prospectivo sobre 365 intervenciones neuroquirúrgicas en el que se empleó profilaxis antibiótica (Cefazolina o Clindamicina). De los resultados del mismo se desprende que dicha profilaxis es útil para la Cirugía carente de factores de riesgo, pero no suficiente para la que sí los posee, planteándose en estos casos el uso de antibioterapia combinada. Se analizan dichos factores según el protocolo establecido.
The authors report the results with antimicrobial prophylaxis used in 365 consecutives neurosurgical procedures (Cefazolin or Clindamicin). The study shows that antimicrobial prophylaxis is useful for surgery without risk factors, but it is not enough for operations categorized as having risk factors. These risk factors are analysed.
