Presentamos nuestra experiencia en ecografía intraoperatoria (EIO) en cirugía raquimedular, consistente en 34 intervenciones sobre procesos patológicos de diferente localización e histología, de los que 16 eran intramedulares, 16 eran intradurales extramedulares y 2 extradurales; describimos la técnica utilizada empleando un transductor lineal de 5MHz y las imágenes observadas comparándolas con las obtenidas con otros medios de diagnóstico, y discutimos su utilidad como ayuda durante la cirugía raquimedular para localizar las lesiones, monitorizar la cirugía y verificar los resultados, tanto en nuestra experiencia como en la de la literatura revisada.
We report our experience with intraoperative sonography in spinal surgery, which ineludes 34 surgical procedures on lesions of different location and nature; 16 of them were intramedullary, 16 intradural extramedullary an 2 extradural. We describe the technique using a linear 5MHz transducer as well as the images obtained, comparing them with those obtained with other neuro-diagnostic procedures. Its utility as an aid during spinal surgery for locating the lesions, monitoring the surgical procedure and verifying the results is discussed and compared to other previous reports.
