Hematoma subdural agudo
Cuerpo calloso
Hematoma de ganglios basales
Hemorragia intraventricular
Summary

We reviewed the clinical records and CT scan reports of all patients with acute subdural hematoma (ASDH) (in coma whithout lucid interval) admited to Vall d’Hebrón hospital over the following six years 1979–1984. These were derived from a series of 170 cases of ASDH.

On 88 consecutive patients who lost consciousness on impact, we identified 10 (11.3%) who had Zimmermann’s findings on the CT scan. Nine patients were involved in road traffic accidents. All patients died.

The demostration of Zimmerman’s findings by CT in ASDH is a evidence that diffuse axonal injury can also be found in patients with ASDH.

Key words:
Diffuse axonal injury
Head injury
Acute subdural hematoma
Corpus callosum
Basal ganglia hematoma
Intraventricular hemorrhage
